Astuvansalmi rock paintings in Ristiina, the largest rock art site in the Nordic countries in Ristiina, Mikkeli, is a unique Saimaa Geopark site. The rock paintings were painted on the face of a sturdy, majestic rock located along a natural waterway. The place exudes peace of nature. 

Naisvuori observation tower in Mikkeli city centre is situated on top of a hill known as Naisvuori, which offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors can climb up to the top of the tower to enjoy the scenery above the Mikkeli city. 

Mikkelipuisto Park in Mikkeli is a delightful park located in the heart of Mikkeli, featuring beautiful gardens, walking trails and a variety of outdoor activities. Perfect spot for picnics!

Art Centre Salmela in Mäntyharju is a summertime art gallery and cultural festival in Mäntyharju, Finland. Salmela’s annual exhibition showcases visual art by recognized veterans of modern Finnish art as well as young, upcoming talent. The largest visual arts festival in Finland, Art Centre Salmela welcomes you to the 34th annual exhibit 10 June – 13 August 2023. The setting for their exhibits is a stunning and historically significant cultural milieu. A mid-19th century parish house functions as the main gallery. Across the water, the exhibit continues in a lovingly restored old apothecary, postal office, and auxiliary buildings that offer a peek into the residential and commercial history of the area. Their waterside sculpture park, restaurant Kesäheinä, and collection of beautiful gazebos make up the rest of the extensive exhibition space. In addition to visual art, Salmela is the venue for a yearly series of concerts played at their own outdoor stage and inside the historic Mäntyharju church across the street.

Rapio Mill in Juva is the oldest still working watermill in Finland plus a mill shop and cafe in a cultural-historic setting. Wide selection of natural Finnish mill products.

Lietvesi Scenic Route (Road 62) between Mikkeli and Puumala is one of the most photographed roads in Finland. The road is over 5 kilometers long with beautiful sceneries of Lake Saimaa and its islands. Along the road there is also a small kiosk and an observation post.
