The Mikkeli Music Festival promises powerful and dazzling musical experiences this upcoming summer, featuring a lineup of exceptional orchestras:
Saimaa Sinfonietta at the grand opening on August 3rd, 8:00 p.m.:
Saimaa Sinfonietta will kick off the festival week with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Op. 125, and the world premiere of Luukas Hiltunen’s Scintillation. The orchestra will be led by conductor Aliisa Neige Barrière.
Game Music Collective: video game music extravaganza on August 4th, 7:00 p.m.:
The specialised Game Music Collective will perform music from renowned video game companies. Joining them are soprano Iris Candelaria and the male choir Alvar. Conductor Erkki Lasonpalo will lead the ensemble.
Symphony Orchestra Vivo: young talent showcase on August 6th, 7:00 p.m.:
The youthful Symphony Orchestra Vivo, along with the exceptionally talented 13-year-old violinist Lilja Haatainen, will present Kabalevsky’s and Shostakovich’s works in the Youth Power concert. Erkki Lasonpalo as conductor.
Mikkeli City Orchestra: Music of joy and light on August 7th, 7:00 p.m. in Pitäjänkirkko Church:
The Mikkeli City Orchestra will accompany baritone Waltteri Torikka in a concert filled with joy and light. The orchestra comprises professional string players, led by conductor Erkki Lasonpalo.
Philharmonia Orchestra from London: five spectacular concerts:
The renowned Philharmonia Orchestra from London will present a total of five remarkable concerts at the Music Festival. Featured soloists include violinist Ava Bahari and cellist Jonathan Roozeman. The orchestra will be conducted by Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Ville Matvejeff, and Erkki Lasonpalo.
