For those looking for a unique day trip destination, the Angel's Nest (Enkelinpesä) is a great place to visit. The human figure spreading its wings, the handsome boulder and the ledge cave with its campfire pit are well worth a visit. The Angel's Nest is one of the Juva Saimaa Geopark sites.
The Angel's Nest is a large, Ice Age-era veined gneiss erratic boulder, and according to folklore, the cave in the boulder's vicinity provided shelter from persecution during the Great War. At a height of about one metre, the cave bears vague red marks, thought to represent a human figure. The Angel's Nest is one of the Juva Saimaa Geopark sites, with a small hut, a campfire site and benches under a rock slab.
